Radiotherapy Specialist

Dr. Monica-Emilia Chirilă is a Specialist in Radiotherapy and joined the Amethyst team in 2021.

Experience

Over the past 8 years, she has participated in more than 80 scientific events, including 14 international advanced training courses organized by the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO), the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the European School of Oncology (ESO), and other professional organizations. She was selected for the mentorship program organized by ESTRO (2021) and the one organized by ESO (2023). She received funding from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), ESO, and ESMO to present scientific papers or attend specialized courses.

She has been part of international multidisciplinary clinical research projects, serving as lead author or co-author of 8 papers presented at international conferences. Four of these were selected for the annual meeting of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO 2017, 2019, 2020, 2024), three were presented at ESTRO Congresses (2022, 2023, 2024), and one at the ESMO Congress (2020).

As a resident, she received two awards at the competitions held during the congress of the Romanian Society of Radiotherapy and Medical Oncology (SRROM), in 2017 and 2019. By 2024, she was the author or co-author of five full-length articles published in PubMed-indexed journals and another 15 in other international journals. She is also the author or co-author of two book chapters: “The Combination of Immunotherapy and Radiotherapy” (editors Burz C, Sur D, 2022), and “SBRT for Localized Prostate Cancer” (editors Henriquez I, Gomez-Iturriaga A, Spratt DE, 2021).

Education

She graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine at “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca.

She completed training rotations in Internal Medicine and specialized in Radiotherapy at the Oncology Institute in Cluj-Napoca.
